In March 2001 the Boeing Company decided to retreat from the megaliner market
and focus on a new strategy. A complete new design for a faster and smaller
airplane was made. The new plane should carry up to 300 passengers with MACH
0.95 to any destination in a radius of 16.668 km. Normal airplanes cruised at
MACH 0.85, so the plane would bring one full hour of spare time to every 3000
miles flown. The project began 2002 and was cancelled in 2011 due to various
complications including economical, technical and environmental reasons.
